Spring Concert 2023
This year, most schools returned to public concerts. Two years ago, we were fully on Zoom, last year we were in person but it was difficult to prepare public performances because the schedule was quite challenging, and this school year we were finally back.
Most schools around where I work did one concert on the stage and some did no concerts at all. At our school, we prepared … THREE concerts this year! Three school-wide concerts as well as a Guitar Recital and a Piano Recital. That is exciting for sure.
Our first concert was back in November, the second one took place at the end of February, and our Spring Concert is taking place today. Here are the songs being performed on the stage:
“Change This World” - original
”Towards Tomorrow” - original recorder instrumental
”Two Friends Are Better Than One” - traditional
“Count on Me” by Bruno Mars
”My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion, Titanic
”We Are the World” by Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie
“Waka Waka” by Shakira
”Wake Me Up” by Avicii
The music is about 50 minutes long and the students had seven weeks to prepare it. At two sessions per week, all classes had fourteen 30-minute sessions to get ready. That sounds like a long time, but working with 250+ performers for this concert, the time should have been doubled.
I am very happy to be back to public performances this year. As difficult as it is to prepare these concerts, I really enjoy doing them. This concert was one to remember for sure.
