“American History” Book Review
“American History” is written by Thomas S. Kidd, who is a visiting professor of Christian History at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I am myself a doctorate student at MBTS and I was very excited to see that the author of the book teaches at this seminary.
The book presents a detailed history of the U.S. beginning with the late 1400s and all the way to modern times, and leads the reader through the century with a Christian-faith perspective in mind.
The content is very broad and varied, but it also gets quite specific. The text reads very well, easy to follow, and the format of the book is very conducive to spot-reading according to historical period.
With 650+ pages, the book contains two volumes in one. It is an academic book that will satisfy the college or seminary student as well as readers who simply like U.S. history.
The cost is $90 on Amazon, but right now, as I am writing this article, the two-volume book is on sale for $69.
If you like history, this book is for you! If you like U.S. history, this book is really for you!! If you like U.S. history from a Christian-faith perspective, this book is absolutely for you!!!
