Recording Guitar Album - Equipment

I am finally recording my very first solo guitar album. The title of the album is “Twenty Four” and in this post I am sharing about the equipment I am using for this project.

One of the most challenging things for recording, for me, is the fact that I do not have a designated recording studio. I am always recording in a different room, at a different location. Because of that, my recording equipment is as mobile as my guitars. Consequently, my recording setup is quite simple; so simple that it usually takes me 4-5 minutes to set up and 4-5 minutes to put things away.

For this project, I am recording on a Takamine GC1CE-NAT acoustic-electric nylon string guitar, going into a Roland AC60 acoustic amplifier, going into a M-Audio MobilePre Audio Interface, and going into GarageBand via MacBook Air. The sound coming out of the AC60 is quite dry and I do most of my edits in GarageBand.

I have always been a D’Addario person, so my guitar is fitted with my go-to strings for this project: D’Addario EJ45 Normal Tension strings. I am aware that D’Addario does make a string set for recording, which is less “squeaky” but I already started recording with EJ45 strings, so I’ll just complete the project with this strings model. I have already recorded 7 pieces out of 15, and I am about to change to the second set.

Here are some Amazon links for each piece of equipment mentioned above, just in case you want to check them out and purchase them for yourself.
