Rhythm Clap & Play Along
Here are a few rhythms that I use in my classroom to help students familiarize themselves with reading, clapping, or playing basic rhythms on small percussion instruments.
You can start by just watching the video, then you can try to clap along with each rhythm, and then you can play these rhythms on a small percussion instrument such as rhythm sticks, hand drum, tambourine, shakers, etc., if you have them around the house.
I am using quarter notes, quarter rests, and pairs of eighth notes, and there are some twenty combinations that I am using.
After you feel comfortable reading and clapping/playing these rhythms, you can combine 2-3 cards together which will give you multiple measures to try.
Hope you find this helpful. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments section below.
